From 1988 to 1992, Mr. Gerber worked for the AVX Kyocera Corporation (NYSE:AVX). Gerber was in charge of and led a successful turnaround of its $400M Surface Mount Manufacturing Division, reversing a (10%) loss to 9% profitability in just two years while growing sales by 30%. Key customers included the world’s leading telecommunication firms such as Lucent, Nortel, IBM, Motorola, etc. Many of its products were used for military and NASA/satellite applications.
